SAG-AFTRA Honors Outstanding Film & Television Performances at the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

SAG-AFTRA presented Actor statuette for outstanding motion picture & prime-time 2012 TV performances at the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. It was held Sunday, January 27, at LA Shrine Exposition Center, & was live coast-to-coast on TNT & TBS at 8PM ET/5PM PT. An encore presentation telecast on TNT at 10PM ET/7PM PT.

Individual awards were honored to Daniel Day-Lewis, Anne Hathaway, Tommy Lee Jones & Jennifer Lawrence for performances in motion pictures; & Alec Baldwin, Bryan Cranston, Kevin Costner, Claire Danes, Tina Fey & Julianne Moore for performances in TV. SAG originated awards for outstanding performances by a motion picture cast & by TV drama & comedy ensembles. The Actor for motion picture cast performance went to Argo, while the Actors for TV drama & comedy ensemble performances went to Downton Abbey & Modern Family. Honors for outstanding action performances by stunt ensemble in film & TV were awarded to Skyfall & Game of Thrones. Carl Reiner presented Dick Van Dyke with the union’s highest honor, the 49th Annual Life Achievement Award, following a filmed tribute introduced & narrated by Alec Baldwin. SAG-AFTRA Co-Presidents Ken Howard & Roberta Reardon introduced a film salute to SAG-AFTRA, highlighting history of both legacy unions. Jessica Chastain introduced a filmed In Memoriam tribute to members lost this past year. More than 100,000 active members of SAG-AFTRA nationwide were eligible to vote.

People magazine & the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) hosted the 17th SAG Post-Awards Gala. This exclusive event followed the SAG Awards behind the Shrine Exposition Center & honored philanthropic causes & good works of SAG-AFTRA.
